When you actually need a leased line
Leased lines are sold as the ‘best’ connectivity — and they are technically. But they’re not always the right answer. The honest decision points:
You probably need one if: you have 50+ staff frequently on video calls; you host your own phone system, application servers, or VPN gateway; you’re regulated (FCA, ICO data processor, NHS supplier, PCI DSS); your contract with a customer requires uptime; lost productivity from a 2-hour outage exceeds your monthly leased-line cost.
You probably don’t yet if: you’re under 30 staff doing cloud-only office work; you can tolerate a 30-minute outage once a quarter; FTTP at 500Mb–1Gb gives you the speed you need.
The crossover point in 2026 is around 30–50 staff for most knowledge-work businesses. We’ll give you a straight read on whether you’re there yet, not a sales pitch.
The order timeline — what to expect
Day 0: we run availability checks across all available carriers at your address. Quote in 48 hours.
Week 1: contract signed, survey scheduled.
Weeks 2–4: survey complete, civil works planned (if any).
Weeks 4–10: civil works — variable, depending on what’s between your building and the nearest fibre POP.
Weeks 10–13: fibre installation, router config, testing, handover. We project-manage the whole order. You get weekly status, not a black hole.

How long does a leased line take to install in Leeds?

What’s the difference between a leased line and FTTP?
A leased line is dedicated (not shared with neighbours), symmetric (same upload and download), and SLA-backed. FTTP is shared infrastructure, asymmetric in most consumer packages, and has a softer SLA. For 50+ staff or regulated industries, leased line is usually the right choice.
Can I get a leased line at any Leeds postcode?
