Our migration service includes not just setting up your Microsoft 365 tenant but also fully securing the Microsoft 365 platform from known attacks. Also our engineers will migrate all existing email and Office document data to Microsoft 365.

Advanced Threat Protection

Included with Microsoft 365 Business Premium is Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection Plan 1. This allows you to protect your business and your team against known and unknown malware. 365 Anti-Phishing policies protect your team against phishing attacks using Microsoft 365 mailbox intelligence and machine-learning reputation checks.

Microsoft Intune

Microsoft 365 Business Premium includes Microsoft Intune. Intune allows your IT administrators to make sure any devices are encrypted incase they are lost or stolen as well as what activities the devices are allowed to carry out on the Microsoft 365 platform.

We can use Microsoft Intune to protect data on devices in the event of loss or theft by configuring Windows BitLocker, Apple’s File Vault, and encryption settings on Android and iOS devices.

Microsoft 365 Conditional Access

Conditional Access protects your teams by making sure that only the right users access your company information and data. For example, if Microsoft 365 detects a risky sign-in from outside the United Kingdom a device it doesn’t recognise such as a new laptop, Microsoft 365 can prompt the user for multi-factor authentication, a code generated to SMS or the Microsoft Authenticator App on a smart phone or even simply block access to the sign in attempt.

There’s a variety of Microsoft 365 licenses depending on what you need for your team and your business, from the quite small and simple to incredibly large and sophisticated. Honestly we could write a novel on the intricacies of Microsoft 365. So oversimplifying massively it boils down to roughly :- 1. emails 2. emails and cloud files 3. emails, cloud files and security on the various licenses.

In a nutshell Microsoft 365 Business Premium offers security features not contained in Microsoft 365 Business Standard. Such as advanced threat protection. Advanced Threat Protection Plan 1 is included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium (or available separately) this allows you to protect your business and your team against known and unknown malware. 365 Anti-Phishing policies protect your team against phishing attacks using Microsoft 365 mailbox intelligence and machine-learning reputation checks.

A “Microsoft Tenant” is your portion of Microsoft 365. If you think of it like this. Microsoft runs 365 on their servers, so every single Microsoft 365 user is on Microsoft’s server. They section off your organisation and into its own control panel on the server, where you can set up your users, and emails, and files etc etc etc. This is called a Tenant.

In short no, once you have a Microsoft Tenant set up there are various things you can do for free but without paying for Microsoft 365 you are going to be very limited. So while you could set up a tenant for free, and add users for free, and add say a shared mailbox such as info@mycompany.com for free you’d be extremely limited in what you could actually do further than receiving emails. All of this of course relies on you knowing how to set up a Microsoft 365 tenant properly and not having to outsource to an IT provider. So in a nutshell no Microsoft 365 is not free.
